One night, told properly

Choose a place, date and local time. We calculate the sky from our star catalogue, then draw the constellation figures around it. Different nights produce different prints. We test the calculation against astronomy references. Printed to order.

  • The calculated sky, not a generic pattern. Every star is drawn from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue and placed for your date, local time and chosen place. Change the hour and the calculated sky turns with it.
  • Eighty-five constellations, joined from catalogue stars. The figures are traditional, joined star by star and checked against the catalogue.
  • Five ways to draw it, five ways to lay it out. A night sky, a lit nebula in the colour you choose, or a printed chart. Stars to the very edge of the paper with your words fading in beneath, a close-up of the sky, or a window in the shape of an arch or a heart. Your lettering, your paper, and a line of your own if you want one.

Questions

What time should I put?
Use the local time for the place. We calculate the moment from that place's time-zone rules. If you are not sure, leave the time blank: we draw the sky for ten at night and print the date alone, without claiming a time you never knew.
What if it happened during the day?
The print still shows the stars calculated above the horizon for that moment, even when daylight would have hidden them. A daylight note explains the difference.
How specific does the place need to be?
A town is enough for a keepsake. The calculation uses the point returned by your place search, so choose the closest result.
