One year, told properly
Most birth-year papers are a template with the year swapped in. This one is set from our own archive: the lead story and its photograph, fifteen or more further stories, the monarch and the prime minister, the song and the film, the names born that year, and what a loaf, a pint and a stamp actually cost. Printed to order.
- Everything on the page happened that year. The lead story, the photographs, the songs, the films, the prices in the shops: all of it drawn from our own year archive, one year at a time. Nothing invented.
- What things cost, in the money of the day. A loaf, a pint of milk, a pint of beer, a stamp, a gallon of petrol and the average wage — in shillings and pence before 1971, in pence after.
- A birthday, an anniversary, a new home, or your own words. The banner, the paper's name and the year badge are yours to set. Give the paper your own name if you like.

Questions
Which years can I choose?
Any year from 1925 to 2025 — a hundred and one of them, each with its own front page built from that year's real events, people and prices. We build the archive a year at a time and only add a year once it has finished, so 2026 joins after it ends. Stories are dated to the day wherever the record has one; the prices and almanac figures are the year's own, not one date's.
Where do the photographs come from?
Wikimedia Commons, chosen for the year and credited on the page with the photographer and licence. A year whose photographs are all difficult subjects prints with fewer pictures and more stories.
Will it lead on something grim?
No. The lead story is always a gentle one where the year has one. Harder events still appear further down, because they were part of the year, but they never take the front.
