Made properly

Set by a typesetter that measures every line — the name sized to fit, the year, the names and the meanings wrapped and numbered — in the range's own lettering, papers and backgrounds, with the drawn stems and wreath from our family tree prints as ornaments.

  • Established: the year you became a family. The family name across the sheet, the year set large beneath it, everyone's name, where you are, and a line of your own at the foot — a poster, not a card. Three layouts — classic, bold capitals with the year larger still, or an editorial page set to the left — and a hairline rule, a pair of drawn stems or a wreath round it.
  • Definition: a word, in your own words. Mum, Grandad, Home, a surname — set as a dictionary entry with how it sounds, its part of speech and up to three numbered meanings you write yourself. The typesetter wraps every meaning to the page and numbers it in the accent, so it reads like the real thing and never like a form.
  • Your colours, your paper, your background. Six colourways from ivory to midnight, five kinds of lettering, five papers and a set of painted backgrounds — watercolour blooms, colour dust, frost, snowfall. Everything measured and centred, whether you give two names or nine, one meaning or three.

Questions

What do I write for the meanings?
Three short sentences at most, each one true of them: what they always do, what they always say, what they are to you. Tap "Mum, defined" or "Grandad, defined" to see the shape, then write your own over it.
Will the spelling be right?
What you see on this page is the exact artwork that prints — every name, year and meaning, redrawn as you type. Nothing is retyped by hand at our end, so what you check is what prints.
Can I use the phonetic alphabet?
You can type it, and the print keeps what our lettering can set. Plain letters — /mum/, /gran-dad/ — always print exactly as typed, so they are the safer choice.
How many names fit?
Nine names in a row still read comfortably at 30 x 45 cm; beyond that the row wraps onto a second line. Separate them with commas and the print sets the dots.
Can I change it later?
Yes. Keep the link to your design and open it again — when a name is added, when you move house — and order another. Nothing is drawn by hand. The share link carries the whole design, so it keeps working; an unfinished design saved at the basket is kept for 90 days, and a bought print's approved artwork is kept for reorders.
