Made properly

Seventeen paintings made for this print in one hand, so a rose and a holly sprig look like they were painted on the same afternoon — and the arrangement is laid by a typesetter that fits every family to the same sheet at the same price, while you watch.

  • Everyone is a flower. Each month has its own bloom — a January carnation, a June rose, a November chrysanthemum — painted in bright gouache, one style across all twelve so they sit together as one bunch. Type a name and a month and the right stem appears. Five months have a second flower to choose from.
  • A bouquet, a garden bed or a wreath. Gather them and tie them with a ribbon in your accent colour, stand them in a row along a garden bed with a name under each, or set them round a wreath with the names in the middle. One person or twelve; the arrangement fits itself to the family you type, and anyone who would rather be a rose than a daffodil can have their favourite flower instead of the month's. Every flower is painted twice, so a family of Junes reads as five different roses rather than one rose five times.
  • Your colours, your paper, your background. Six colourways from ivory to midnight, five kinds of lettering, five papers and a set of painted backgrounds — watercolour blooms, colour dust, frost, snowfall. Print each birth month under the names or keep just the names.

Questions

How many people fit?
One to twelve. A bouquet of eight is full and glorious, and from nine it becomes two bunches side by side; a garden bed of eight is a proper border, and a wreath puts every name in the middle. If it looks crowded on screen it will look crowded on the wall, so try the garden bed, which gives every stem its own ground.
Which flower is which month?
January carnation, February violet, March daffodil, April daisy or sweet pea, May lily of the valley, June rose or honeysuckle, July larkspur, August gladiolus or poppy, September aster, October marigold or cosmos, November chrysanthemum, December holly or narcissus — the British convention. Pick whichever of a month's two you love.
Can I add a new baby later?
Yes. Keep the link to your design and open it again when the family grows, add the name and the month and order another. Nothing is drawn by hand, so a new stem costs nothing but the print. The share link carries the whole design, so it keeps working; an unfinished design saved at the basket is kept for 90 days, and a bought print's approved artwork is kept for reorders.
